Antibacterial properties

The plates of the PLH® collections with Abaco® finish take care of the health of users through an effective and long-lasting antibacterial coating on the surface of the buttons and the support frame.

The Abaco® treatment is a special process, created by the Italian company Protim® in the field of PVD-Physical Vapour Deposition treatments, capable of inhibiting and even eliminating the proliferation of bacteria within a few hours.

Enrico Corelli, owner of PLH®, explains: “These plates, absolutely innovative and unique in their kind, are the result of a long process of research and experimentation that led us to identify 316L stainless steel as the material of choice as it allows the application of PVD technology directly on its surface, avoiding complicated intermediate steps and often with an uncertain outcome that are necessary in the case of other metals”.

Thanks to the partnership with Protim®, the research was not limited to the definition of a manufacturing process carried out with great expertise and rigorously made in Italy, but it took care to ascertain and certify that the antibacterial efficacy was real and that it lasted over time, a result that was achieved through a series of severe laboratory tests conducted at the University of Brescia taking as a reference the stringent Japanese regulation JIS Z 2801/A12012, the most rigorous and widely applied in the world.

Three Colors

But technology is not everything: as is in the DNA of PLH®, aesthetics and design also play a prominent role in this case.

“The PVD treatment, especially the Abaco® one,” observes Corelli, “gives the material highly suggestive decorative effects that go well with our idea of ​​making the control plate a furnishing factor destined to confer an aesthetic added value to the architecture in which it is inserted.”

Similarly to all PLH® products, the Abaco® plate is highly customizable and is offered in three finishes: Gun metal, Grey05 and Gold.
